  2. Phase 1: RETHINK – Understand the Care Context: 2-4 Hours

  3. Phase 2: REDEFINE – Patient-Centered Frameworks & Methods: 2-4 Hours

  4. Phase 3: REDESIGN – Design and Prototype Care Systems: 6-8 Hours

  5. Phase 4: REVISION – Pilot and Measure Your Prototype: 2-4 Hours

Michael Cawcutt

Primary Instructor

Michael Cawcutt is a Senior Product Director with over 20 years of experience transforming complex healthcare and enterprise systems into intuitive, human-centered experiences. He holds a Master’s degree in User Experience and has led design and product strategy for leading healthcare organizations including Mayo Clinic, Nebraska Medicine, and Optum. As the co-founder of FosterHealth Institute, Michael brings his expertise in UX design, research, and digital strategy to empower professionals and teams to create healthcare solutions that improve patient outcomes and streamline clinical workflows. His work bridges clinical insight and design innovation, helping organizations move from theory to real-world impact.

Nagesh Shinde

Primary Instructor

Nagesh is a design leader and educator with deep roots in brand and experience design. He’s worked with global agencies like Wunderman Thompson and Leo Burnett, and brand design manager at Cardean Learning Group, collaborating with pioneers like Don Norman and Jakob Nielsen. As a professor of Design at UW-Stout, he guides industry-sponsored projects with GNC, 3M, Target, and Adobe, bringing real-world rigor to human-centered design education.

Josh Canale

Primary Instructor

Josh is a UX strategist and designer with deep experience in healthcare, AI, and complex systems. At Epic, he led the design of AI-powered tools used across 80+ clinical applications, helping teams scale intelligent experiences in high-stakes care settings. Now, he works with AI startups and health organizations to design products that are explainable, trustworthy, and actually usable. At Foster Health Institute, he focuses on making advanced UX skills accessible to the next generation of designers breaking into healthcare.
